  CITY OF PEPINSTER

Via Monts and Vaux... between Soiron and Tancrémont.

At the heart of the Vesdre valley, Pepinster is a pretty little town surrounded by numerous orchards perfect for strolling.

Flanked by an amazing interior and a most sober exterior, the Church of Saint-Antoine l’Ermite is worth a detour since it constitutes the only true example of the religious Neo-Gothic style in Wallonia. This is a fact that people are all too often unaware of!

But Pepinster also delights in the privilege of featuring “one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia”: Soiron. This village, overlooked by its magnificent château, is surrounded by hills, meadows and orchards…a true oasis of tranquillity! The châteaus and the many striking residences of which it is made up give Soiron a remarkable architectural heritage. This village is like a step back from modern times with its thistle drying area, its public laundry and its ancient houses surrounding the imposing Saint-Roch Church (known for its magnifi cent sculptures). A visit with serenity and sweetness as dominant themes, not to be missed on any account.

Besides is succulent tarts, Tancrémont still offers the double attraction of its fort dating from the Second World War and its beautiful chapel, which draws many pilgrims. The latter houses a Latin cross, the “Vieux Bon Dieu” (Old Dear Lord), made of beech wood on which is placed a serene Christ, modestly draped in a black tunic.

Pepinster is definitely a place t !
