The journal *Hautes Fagnes* keeps a close eye on developments in the Fagnes region, publishes scientific papers, and features articles on the history, cultural heritage, place names, geology, and flora and fauna of the Fagnes.

The Royal Society ‘Les Amis de la Fagne’, a private association founded in 1935, has as its objective ‘the protection and promotion of the Hautes Fagnes’. It has played a very active role in fostering a broad movement of public opinion which, for over half a century, has never ceased to campaign for the protection of the Hautes Fagnes.

Through its guided excursions, publications, restoration work on Fagne sites and its Accredited Nature Reserves, it carries out significant work to educate and raise public awareness of nature conservation issues.
