Discover the former capital of the Duchy of Limbourg, whose architectural ensemble is listed as one of Wallonia’s outstanding architectural heritage sites and has been awarded the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia” label. Wander through the narrow, picturesque streets and admire the old stronghold, its magnificent houses in bloom in the summer months and the listed monuments along the way. These peaceful surroundings have nevertheless been the scene of numerous attacks and fires and massive destruction. Push open the door of the old town hall, known as “Arvô”, to discover this rich historical past. Get on your bike and ride along the country lanes through the lush greenery and hedged farmland to the village of Clermont-sur-Berwinne, another of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. This village, in the heart of the Pays de Herve, boasts a rich variety of architecture from different periods. Take a stroll back in time and discover the many tourist attractions: the cobbled Halle square, the imposing listed church, the former 19th-century town hall and the narrow streets and elegant houses.
