The Yellow Diamond Walk is an ideal family walk. It takes you along easy paths, surrounded by vast meadows, to meet the rural world of today. Start at the foot of the Sainte-Anne chapel, built in the 16th century, at a place called Halloux.
The rural world of our regions has undergone changes that are reflected in the villages of today. From the 16th century onwards, the farms were dispersed and livestock farming became more important. The meadows enclosed by hedges contained the livestock. The grassland bocage was established throughout the region. From the 18th century onwards, thatch and wooden buildings gave way to more durable materials such as stone and brick. Built in two parallel structures, the farms, which in the past consisted of a dwelling, a stable and a dairy, have now often been converted into private homes.
Magnificent examples of this rural heritage await you during your walk, including the Grande Halloux farm with its porch and private courtyard, the Goronnes farm on the edge of the Hèvremont road, the old Colinet bakery with its small Halleur pot or, at the end of your route, the Petite Halloux farm decorated with a stone engraved with a chronogram.

Discover the former capital of the Duchy of Limbourg, whose architectural ensemble is listed as one of Wallonia’s outstanding architectural heritage sites and has been awarded the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia” label. Wander through the narrow, picturesque streets and admire the old stronghold, its magnificent houses in bloom in the summer months and the listed monuments along the way. These peaceful surroundings have nevertheless been the scene of numerous attacks and fires and massive destruction. Push open the door of the old town hall, known as “Arvô”, to discover this rich historical past. Get on your bike and ride along the country lanes through the lush greenery and hedged farmland to the village of Clermont-sur-Berwinne, another of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. This village, in the heart of the Pays de Herve, boasts a rich variety of architecture from different periods. Take a stroll back in time and discover the many tourist attractions: the cobbled Halle square, the imposing listed church, the former 19th-century town hall and the narrow streets and elegant houses. Itinerary reserved for athletes or electric bikes.Starting out from Limbourg’s tourist car park, this itinerary takes the future “Most Beautiful Villages Route” linking Limbourg to Clermont-sur-Berwinne. Set off to discover the Entre Vesdre et Meuse region and the rich historical past of these two villages listed as Walloon heritage sites and labelled as some of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. Whether in Clermont-sur-Berwinne or Limbourg, take the time to explore the two old cobbled squares that have retained their old-world charm. Stroll through the narrow streets and admire the architectural style of the buildings, the listed monuments, and the pretty houses in bloom.Continue your walk through a landscape of hedgerows, taking Line 38 to Hombourg. Bilstain, whose name means "protruding rock", together with the Ru de Bilstain wood, formed the landed seigneury of the Abbey of Saint-Jacques until the end of the Ancien Régime. Divided between various hamlets, the territory is geographically divided into an upper and a lower part linked by the Saint-Jacques wood. In the heart of this old village reigns the serene atmosphere of the rural villages of yesteryear and in which lies, in the centre of the cemetery, the massive sandstone tower of the Saint-Roch church.
The natural riches of the Pays de Herve bocage are spread out in vast meadows where grasses, clover and dandelions grow in abundance, nonchalantly ruminated by carefree cows. Continuing towards the woods, the path takes you past the Enduro estate. Then join the calm waters of the stream and the rocks of the Nez de Napoleon, which offer breathtaking views over the Lonhian countryside.
Cross the bridge over the Vesdre and join the railway, leaving behind the huge building of the former preventorium. At the edge of Rue Sur les Sarts is an example of an 18th century farmhouse with charming wooden flower boxes. A passage of stiles leads you to the Limbourg road, labelled "Most beautiful villages in Wallonia", where you can stop for a snack before returning to your starting point.

Starting from the he Hors-Les-Portes car park, this walk takes you up the crest of the Halloux hill to an old path, the Voie d'amis, which once linked the village of Hèvremont to the ancient city of Limburg. At the top of this steep path, which is slippery in rainy weather, you can admire the magnificent panorama over the Bovegnée valley and the Gileppe aqueduct. Three small stone steps lead you to the path of the stiles, the gateway to the woods.
The woods of Hèvremont and Goé are part of the vast western Hertogenwald, which was once a fantastic reserve of wood, mainly for the production of charcoal for industry. As early as the 19th century, it was decided to plant spruce trees on a massive scale in order to restore the forest, which had been badly damaged and deforested over the centuries.
In line with this desire to conserve the forest area, the Goé forest is nowadays included in the recognition programme for forest certification systems that guarantee the sustainable and responsible use of the area. Guided by birdsong and the delicacy of the blueberry and wild strawberry bushes, make your way to the peaceful hamlet of La Pierresse before crossing the authentic village of Goé. The twisted bell tower of the Saint-Lambert church shows you the way to the viewpoints of the Halloux hill in a final effort.
