Nodes Cycling Tour : Discovering Limbourg and Clermont
Discover the former capital of the Duchy of Limbourg, whose architectural ensemble is listed as one of Wallonia’s outstanding architectural heritage sites and has been awarded the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia” label. Wander through the narrow, picturesque streets and admire the old stronghold, its magnificent houses in bloom in the summer months and the listed monuments along the way. These peaceful surroundings have nevertheless been the scene of numerous attacks and fires and massive destruction. Push open the door of the old town hall, known as “Arvô”, to discover this rich historical past. Get on your bike and ride along the country lanes through the lush greenery and hedged farmland to the village of Clermont-sur-Berwinne, another of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. This village, in the heart of the Pays de Herve, boasts a rich variety of architecture from different periods. Take a stroll back in time and discover the many tourist attractions: the cobbled Halle square, the imposing listed church, the former 19th-century town hall and the narrow streets and elegant houses. Nodes Cycling Tour : L’Entre-Vesdre-et-Meuse
Itinerary reserved for athletes or electric bikes.Starting out from Limbourg’s tourist car park, this itinerary takes the future “Most Beautiful Villages Route” linking Limbourg to Clermont-sur-Berwinne. Set off to discover the Entre Vesdre et Meuse region and the rich historical past of these two villages listed as Walloon heritage sites and labelled as some of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. Whether in Clermont-sur-Berwinne or Limbourg, take the time to explore the two old cobbled squares that have retained their old-world charm. Stroll through the narrow streets and admire the architectural style of the buildings, the listed monuments, and the pretty houses in bloom.Continue your walk through a landscape of hedgerows, taking Line 38 to Hombourg. Nodes Cycling Tour : La Gotsgette
You will start this itinerary in one of the most beautiful tourist sites in the Province of Liège: the Gileppe dam complex, which is surrounded by the vast Hertogenwald forest.You will stroll along its lake for five kilometres, in a breathtaking setting with a 13.5-meter monumental lion sculpture by Félix-Antoine Bouré and a 77.6-metre-tall panoramic tower! You will then cycle through the untamed Soor valley, along a small torrential stream. Don’t hesitate to stop at the observatory for a minute to spot the herbivores that live in our forests (deer and roe deer). Take a stroll through this charming village, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia”. Wander through the narrow, picturesque streets and admire the old stronghold, its magnificent houses in bloom in the summer months and the listed monuments along the way. Continue on through lush green countryside and small country villages. Nodes Cycling Tour : Around Eupen (along the country lanes of Baelen)
You begin your walk along the forest paths of the Osthertogenwald, bordering the Vesdre dam and heading towards the town of Eupen. Eupen is not only the capital of the German-speaking Community, but also a cultural town famous for its carnival, which is celebrated with great fervour in the Rhineland tradition. Its Baroque architectural style dates back to the heyday of the cloth industry (17th and 18th centuries). You continue your walk along the country lanes of the municipality of Baelen, which offer beautiful panoramic views of the region, to return to Eupen, this time in the lower town, at the confluence of the Vesdre and Helle rivers. You will pass by the Helle weir and finish your walk alongside the river in the Hertogenwald, a state forest and gateway to the High Fens reserve.Please note: along the Helle, between points-nœuds 57, 68 and 56, it’s best to be equipped with a mountain bike or hybrid bike. You can bypass this section via points-nœuds 2, 41, 42 and 47 from junction 40.
